sibu and sarikei in moving images
Always have been taking photos when I visit my other kampung, so I thought I'd do something different this time. It was lots of fun, especially the road trip to Bintangor and Sarikei.
Sorry about the shakiness and possible dizziness, I tried my best to compress what I wanted to show you in a short time, but still it ended up to be a 6 minute video.
Who knows, maybe the lazy susan technique at the chinese restaurant could turn out to be something big in the future.

the 5 karats
Wow, I can't believe I'm holding back from blogging twice a day, it's amazing! I don't get as much material in Melbourne as I do here. Somehow. It's prolly due to the amount of free time and crazy friends I have.
Last week, blog traffic was outstanding! I'd love to thank each and everyone of you, but I don't know who you are.
Anyhoos, last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of jamming (for the first time, thank you very much) with Yih Khai (drummer) who spends most of his student life rotting at Cyberjaya (or Cyberia as he calls it), his brother Ern Khai (Guitarist), Ji Wen aka Jive (Guitarist), and Kenneth (Bassist). We did it at Akarkarya, Damansara Utama.
I had SOO much fun! Although the room was terribly small, we still enjoyed ourselves and I nearly vomited my uvula trying to hear myself over all the noise. Ok not noise, music.

I took so many videos and only had space for one photo. Sadly all the videos tak laku since my mic wasn't made to record sound at 1298593082904 dB.
Here's one of the videos where we can actually here something other than static, and it's because it was jazz. It wasn't in our song list, but it was one of the best moments. Although at that time, my throat was ready to retire at 21.
So here you go.
Oh, by the way, my buddy Alvin in Melbourne is doing a twitter giveaway. Unlike Scott Bourne's giveaways, this is actually something tangible. So do hop on over to the website to know more about a free photoshoot!
PS: All claims regarding Scott Bourne are fictional.

the big switchfoot project
So I got tired. Tired of singing the songs I love out loud on trams, on the streets, in trains, jumpin' around imagining I'm in a movie, imagining I'm filming myself, documenting the ups and downs of my life, my moods, my hypes.
I remember being on a tram, sending out a Facebook message to a bunch of people, talking about a crazy idea, which I REALLY thought noone would be interested in.
Come on, it was stupid, everyone's busy with their lives, and there were too many impossibilities.
To my surprise, everyone was up for it. Excited about it! We got together to plan about it, and we were so hyped up we even decided to have a sleepover at my place so we could film it early the next morning. It was tough to suit everyone's busy schedules, but thank God, it worked out!
So on the SLEEPOVER DAY, one by one, they brought their gears. I was so excited you should've seen my face. I couldn't believe what a bunch of boys could get hold of now a days. The drums, camera, boom mics, mic+stand weren't even ours. Somehow, just somehow, we did it.
It was a night full of anticipation. We set up the instruments and had a lil' jam session. We shot tons of footage. We went out for supper thinking a bunch of macho guys need no sleep.
We slept.
It was tough to wake everyone up, but with the instruments all in place, it wasn't too big of a problem. Everyone got dressed up, asking each other how our hair looked, whether we should leave the first button undone, etc.
Moving the gear into the gardens was not an easy task at all. When everything was set up though, there were a few problems:
1. We weren't sure whether we were allowed to do such a thing in a public place.
2. We couldn't really hear the song to be able to play along with it.
3. Qivin was worried about being a public disturbance. He had to look cool without hitting the drums hard.
4. We ran out of film.
A little talk with the park rangers, a drive to the nearest JB HIFI, and everything was coming together perfectly. We got stares, people asking for photos, and it was one heck of a day.
PURE FUN.
Editing wise, we had more problems. Big ones. But let me tell you, a dream can never be stopped once you're livin' it.
We take for granted how filmmakers get everything pieced together nowadays. It's not an easy task at all! Yes, there maybe a few glitches. To some, even, this may be boring. But to us, this is REVOLUTIONARY. Never have we done anything at this scale.
So I present to you - AMATEUR LOVERS.
I would highly recommend that you watch this in HD on the Vimeo page itself. It is also available to view on YouTube. Best viewed after full loading.
Dreamer/Video Editor/Lead Vocalist/Guitarist/Lodging/Publicist - Wei Xiong YAP
I try not to give myself too much credit. NOT.
Lead Guitarist - Kuo Hao TAH

Bass Guitarist - Dean WERNER
Thanks so much for helping with logistics (OMG THE DRUMS), and making so many trips when I was at the TULIP FARM! 3 cheers for rippin the carpets off your floor.
Drummer - Qivin TANG
Thanks for bringing that wicked mohawk of yours, a killer attitude, and for somehow getting permission to borrow the sweet Yamaha. Also a big thank you for finding a tambourine with Dean.
Video Camera - Alvin WONG
The video speaks for itself. Thanks for helping us get gear, and going all out for this.
Photographers - Theng Wei TAN, Ranjith THOMAS, Louis CHEONG
Thanks for your creativity, the sick shots and your patience.
Violinists - Tse Han TAI, Simon ROBB
Thanks for bringing that violin form the 1800's, Tse Han, and to both of you, your patience. Sittin there under the sun waiting for your scene to be next was just outstanding. You guys did an amazing job!
Lighting - Theng Wei TAN
What can I say, you crazy reflector.
General Assistance - Louis CHEONG
You never fail to give a helping hand. You're a champ!
Thanks to all others who have helped make this happen. I'm sorry if I left anyone out.
It was an experience I'll remember. Forever.

video teaser [1 day to go]
ARE YOU EXCITED? Sadly my "advance screening giveaway" only had one participant. It's none other than MeetKinn all the way from Moscow! Love the post, bro, thanks heaps!

Also check out Alvin's post on the company blog. Alvin was the cameraman!
So just another 24hours before the big day, get your popcorn ready (maybe just a handful, it's really short), your sodas and a set of great speakers.
Till then, catch me on Facebook or Twitter, and stay tuned to twofrontteeth.net

the ballerina's all grown up
Just came back from Elisa's place, had a great time celebrating her 21st!

Love shooting parties like these, beautiful home, not too many people and GREAT FOOD! Stuffed my face with it.

Happy 21st once again, your present is coming soon. Sorry ter-delay.

...
ANYWAY, are you as excited as I am about the premiere of the new video? OMG I can't wait to show it to you guys.

For those of you who just can't wait and need so badly to watch it before everyone else does, YOU NOW HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO!
All you gotta do is post the OFFICIAL POSTER on your blog, write a paragraph about how you came about reading this blog, and post your link on the Facebook page!
Don't forget to (somehow) provide me with your email so I can send you the link and the password!
THIS IS EXCITING!

Hung out with my highschool mates today, playing Band Hero at SS2, then ZOMBIELAND (OMG SO RECOMMENDED) at Tropicana City Mall, ending with head-spinnin' rounds of Left4Dead 2. We hung out for a good 12 hours together, that's pretty amazing.

It was my first time at Tropicana City Mall, we all contributed to the RM2 needed to get on that ride. All 6 of us.
Also had a blast with CheePang and Christine yesterday at Red Box and around Taman Tun. When you put 3 extroverts with the Red Bull kinda energy together, you'll find yourselves constantly being stared at.

dreaming with a broken heart

I love the photos above.
ANYWAY, I bought a new pair of thongs! Lovin' em.

Also, went to Hock Lee's with Alicia. The chow was the pow!

I love the fact that I've been updating pretty frequently, and they're not just pointless fillers!

I hope you have not forgotten the very importance of 22.12.09!

You know, a lot of people've been asking me what I've been doing since I've been home.
Let me clarify it once and for all. Not working, hanging out with friends, eating, shopping and lovin' it all!
